The Process
The best designers start by thinking about what the goals of their design are. Next, they consider what the ideal design would include in order to satisfy those goals.
When designing a user experience, our creative decisions must be supported by things like demographic research and heuristic analysis in addition to the principles of graphic design.
Defining Success
If we make a very pretty design that is unintuitive, we have failed.
If we make an ugly design that is simple to use, that’s not good enough either.
If we make something that looks nice and is easy but had to have a lot of functionality removed to achieve that simplicity, then we cheated.
Solving problems
Most designers think of aesthetics, functionality, and usability as competing things that need to be balanced. Great designers view them as puzzle pieces that can be fit together without having to cut or bend the pieces do so. I aspire to this standard with every project I take on.
Working Together
Different clients always have different expectations of what it's like to work with a professional designer. Some like to rely completely on judgement, and other clients prefer to be very involved at every step.
I accommodate both of these types of clients and everybody that falls in the middle, so after you look at my work, contact me and let's start a productive, professional relationship.
